Beyond Organic: Interactive Media Exhibition

by Lucia Ott, on Jan 22, 2018 9:23:06 AM

Sunday 21 January saw the opening of the exhibition "Beyond Organic, showcasing the work of Prague College’s students of Interactive Media and BA (Hons) Fine Art Experimental Media.

Anna Kolisnyk, Ayna Pirkuliyeva, Nayan Velaskar, Aya Akhmetova and special guest George Cremaschi have created interactive installations that deal with the interplay of human beings and nature. In our constantly changing society, dominated by technological progress, our environment takes on a new meaning. The artists have thematized this issue with the help of electronic adaptations using the Arduino software platform and Unity electronic game development software, as well as with traditional art media.

The first evening at the multifunctional exhibition space HYB4 in Hybernska 4 (Prague 1) opened with live performances from the Interactive Media students. The combination of videos, sounds and the artists themselves offered the viewer an intense atmosphere in which the students shared their very personal interpretation of the inter-relationship of nature and mankind.

After this unique opening the visitors could experience the main exhibition.  This continues until 26 January, so there is still a chance to see it! On Thursday 25 January a guided tour will take place in the exhibition space.

As a remarkable extension, the students will also offer workshops that follow up with different topics under  the "Beyond Organic" umbrella, on Tuesday 23 January. They will deal with topics including "Sustainable architecture", "Slow fashion" and "The secret afterlife of things tossed and forgotten".
