Cultural differences are crucial for managing work groups. This seminar focused on potential challenges of working in multicultural teams and how managers can overcome them.
In our modern world it is more and more common that people of different nationalities are working together. Cultural diversity in work groups brings along many advantages as well as challenges that can turn into disadvantages.
More specifically we will examine some types of work groups and see how culture might influence them by using the classic Arrow and McGrath theoretical framework for small group dynamics.
Two different case studies based on my personal experience will be discussed. Finally, in the last part of the seminar, we will look at some ideas how managers can manage culturally diverse work groups to maximize their potential.
