The Parks Of Prague

by Miriam Fogler, on Nov 15, 2018 1:23:13 PM

Although the winter is slowly arriving and it is getting colder outside, the sun still shows up from time to time and those autumn shafts of sunlight need to be spent well. The perfect opportunity for taking some walks in the beautiful parks of Prague. In any case, getting some fresh air while taking a short break from work, might bring some new ideas and inspiration.

One place to have a nice walk is the way from the castle of Prague to the Petřín Lookout Tower. In this area of the castle there are plenty of tourists of course, but as soon as you make your way through the garden and into the forest you don’t feel like you are in a big city anymore. Arriving at the tower you can enjoy the sun with a Trdelník and beer. For the way back the funicular takes you on a special ride down the hill.

Also a very nice spot for autumn walks is of course Letná Park, not only because of the great view of the city is a reason for that but the big park is also perfect for having a picnic, reading a book, jogging or roller skating. Especially in the year of the hundredth anniversary of Czechoslovakia you have the opportunity to get to know more about the history of the country by observing the skyline.

The exhibition: “Memory of Nation” (located in Letná Park) shows two video installations below the former statue of Stalin, which both examine nine different chapters of the history. In the dark hall you get a deep insight into the memories of different people and are able to better understand your own feelings and opinions on events throughout Czechoslovak history. The exhibition runs until December 9th, 2018, it is definitely worth a visit and students are free of charge.
