Prague College is delighted to welcome the art historian Dr Corey Dzenko to lecture on 'constructed' photographs, pieces that combine the use of photography, performance, digital technologies, and cinema.

The particular focus of Dr Dzenko's talk will be on the constructed photographs of Kerry Skarbakka, Nikki S. Lee, and Gregory Crewdson (whose 'Twilight' is pictured above) dealing with those aspects of identity often assumed “normative” by dominant US culture: white, masculine, middle-class, and suburban. "Negotiating Normativity: Contemporary Constructed Photographs by Kerry Skarbakka, Nikki S. Lee, and Gregory Crewdson" starts at 5.10pm in Room 209.

Dr Dzenko is currently a Visiting Fellow at the University of Nottingham. She has presented and published in numerous venues, most recently in Columbia University’s Skin/Matters: Gendered and Racial Economies of Skin Color, and the anthology Gravity in Art: Essays on Weight and Weightlessness in Painting, Sculpture, and Photography. She is currently drafting a book about contemporary constructed photographs in which she examines the “other’s other". In the fall of 2014, she will join the Department of Art & Design at Monmouth University as an Assistant Professor of Art History.
