Visiting Artist: Crank Sturgeon

by Alex Went, on 07 November 2014 10:16:40 CET

Multidisciplinary artist will present a lecture for students followed by a contact microphone workshop

Crank Sturgeon, aka Matt Anderson, is a multidisciplinary artist who has been directing technical and creative workshops since 2009. Fusing avant-garde playfulness with nuts-and-bolts know-how, Crank's workshops cover a wide gamut of subject matter: from constructing large scale art installations to building handmade microphones.

These workshops share practical knowledge with a hands-on approach, allowing participants to not only learn a new craft, but how to use it creatively and collaboratively within the context of the classroom or studio. Crank has worked with children, adults, and artists with disabilities. These workshops have often been a part of a visiting artist series or under the umbrella of an artist residency.
