by admin, on 17 September 2012 13:12:27 CEST

Prague College is proud to announce that it is once again hosting Maricopa Community Colleges this summer for their study abroad programs to the Czech Republic. Courses include Psychology of Religion, Art History and Political Ideologies.

Prague College will be welcoming the first students and faculty from Maricopa on 5 June and a second group will arrive on 10 July.

Students will study the impact of historical Czech politics on contemporary Czech culture and the differences from the American world view in politics.

"Political ideologies is a survey course of 20th century political ideologies and movements. Topics will include : Liberalism, Conservatism, Nationalism, Fascism, Socialism, and Communism. The classes include Czech guest lecturers who were witnesses and participants in these ideological movements," says Jose Velasco, instructor of Political ideologies.

Ongoing cooperation with Maricopa Community Colleges, one of the largest providers of higher education in the world, is an important part of Prague College’s commitment to international education.

Since 2005, Maricopa and Prague College have held a faculty training programme, bringing in key faculty members from Arizona colleges to experience first-hand some of historical and cultural highlights of the Czech Republic. Some of the most influential personalities in the country, including Jiri Pehe and Jirina Siklova, lectured on such diverse topics as Communism, Czech society and EU and US relations.
