‘No more chocolate teapots’: designing a better user experience

by Alex Went, on 25 February 2015 14:37:29 CET

The vast majority of mobile applications and websites are as useless as chocolate teapots. Tempting at first, but in the end difficult to use...

This talk will open with a five-minute ride through history to understand the deeper issues that have led to the oceans of mind numbingly frustrating chocolate teapots. The rest of the talk will describe two tools for creating a user experience that is as nice as drinking a lovely cup of tea on a cold winter's day.  Understanding people and getting feedback are the keys to a great user experience.

Ming Lee is a Lead User Researcher and Designer, with experience ranging from startups to multinational companies including Nokia. Ming has designed for mobile, TV, web and desktop platforms in many areas, including telecommunications, education, research, health, law-enforcement, marketing and sales, e-commerce and radio. He studied Information Technology and pepped it up with linguistics and anthropology. A self-confessed geek who puts people before technology, he has always believed that technology should fit users, rather than the other way around.

All are welcome to come and hear this fascinating talk by an expert in the field of UX design.
