Prague College alumnus Alexandr Panek and his business partner Robert Knox have co-founded a US-based startup in Seattle, Washington called Virgla LLC. Virgla is a unique Marketing and Communication platform focused on taking traditional media, and using advanced target/sound recognition and location based/iBeacon technology to extend the user experience to mobile devices in a more personalized, engaging and rich experience.
Now, in conjuction with the World Ice Hockey Championship, they have introduced their first Second Screen application in the Czech Republic. During the current ice-hockey tournament, when the Czech Republic’s National team is playing, users have the chance to interact with the game directly, both on Android and iOS.
Not only can uses send messages to the team's locker room to show support, they can also take part in quizzes, polls, chat with other users, and receive a lot of bonus content including special tailor-made videos and photos. in addition the Virgla platform rewards every user for interaction with points which can be used to buy prizes in the Virgla store.
The official partner of Virgla's Hockey 2015 channel is McDonald's, who are also official partner of the Czech Ice HockeyTeam. During the championship the platform is also being used by iDnes.cz and Rádio Impuls.
Following the success of Virgla's hockey channel, Alexandr and his company are preparing a lot more for the summer including the Czech soccer and hockey league, cooking shows and other TV shows as well as all the major festivals in the Czech Republic.
