Visiting artist Félix Blume 'Listening as an artistic approach'

Written by Matthew Butler | 19 February 2019 23:00:00 Z

Thursday 28 February 2019 | 6pm | Bishop's Court | Biskupsky Dvur 6

Visiting Artist events happen on Thursdays at Bishop's Court, the college's studio space in Prague 1. All are welcome to attend.

Our next guest artist Félix Blume will present a selection of 3 projects from his recent work, based on sound but related with sculpture, video and installation. From his technical background as a sound engineer, Félix slowly moved to an artistic approach using sound as basic material and listening as his main practice.

Starting from his series “Son Seul Wildtrack” which is clearly connected to both practices (sound engineer & sound artist), he will explain how sound and image have been interleaved in his work. With “Rumours from the Sea” he left the habit of sound-recording to experiment in-situ installation in the public space, strongly connected with the nature and the listening experience. Finally, Félix will talk about the process of “Curupira, Creature of the Wood”, his last video piece which has recently been presented during Berlinale and will be shown in Prague on the 4th of March.
