In late October, Prague City University students from the School of Business participated in the annual University Management Accounting Day. A CIMA Business Game was also held for over 200 students from the CEE region. Nine teams from nineteen participating universities took part and Arulan Reddy, from Bachelor’s (Hons) International Finance and Business Accounting was in the winning team. Following is his summary report on the competition.

Theme Park Ride

The CGMA Business Game was a case study about creating a new ride for a theme park called Paradise Park, located in the French Riviera. Teams were given 5 minutes in which to read the case study and 30 minutes to create the concept.

All PCU students were split up into different teams with students from the other participating universities - this was challenging in itself because we had to work as a team from the get go with strangers. But once the balance was struck we found that we were able to work effectively.

The case study presented thorough quantitative as well as qualitative information on budget constraints, customer surveys and existing ride specifications. This information helped spark ideas for rides that would attract clientele and fit the theme park’s budget. At the end of the 30 minutes our team had to present our idea to a professional panel.

After our team's presentation the judges went away to score our work. Upon their return we received news that our team had placed first!
