We were happy to welcome students to Prague and onto campus for intensive summer courses over the months of June and July.

Welcome to Prague and to PCU!

For the past two years the summer courses have been taught online or in hybrid format, so it was great to welcome students to our Polska and Bishop’s Court campuses. Taking part, were students from the USA, Korea, Denmark, UK, Seychelles, Ukraine, Ghana as well as the Czech Republic.

Closing Party & Awarding of Certificates

The summer programme is open to all ages. This year students ranged in age from 16 years to mature age, including some who will join PCU in September for undergraduate and Master’s studies. On the final day the groups enjoyed a party and were awarded their certificates.

Web Design & Programming

At the end of their programme, Web Design & Programming students had the skills to code, create and build responsive websites. They also learnt essential design elements such as typography, working with images, navigation/ux/ui design, video, animation techniques and wire framing.

Web Design and Programming with David

Students learnt to work with HTML5, CSS3, Vanilla JavaScript languages to create and code their pieces and were encouraged to share their code so that they could learn from each other, along with help and support from their tutor.

Social Media Marketing

Social Media Marketing was offered for the first time as a summer course .

Victoria Kavunova, a graduate from PCU’s School of Business and Mariia Ahota, both Co-founders of Matilda Digital Agency, taught the course. The class also included students from the university’s strategic partner, Teesside University, who traveled from the UK.

Social Media Marketing with Victoria & Mariia

Students learnt about social media platforms, the algorithms behind each one, target audiences, behavioural characteristics and marketing opportunities. Followed by strategy development and positioning, content creation and promotion. After filming, interviewing and experimenting with content, the students learnt about audience engagement, how to work with clients, online communities and how to track the results through statistics.

You can see one of the student videos on Instagram here promoting Prague, PCU and the summer programme.

Studio Painting

Studio Painting took place in the sunlit studios of Bishop’s Court. Students explored colours and textures, line quality and shadows, composition and perspective.

Studio Painting with Franco

They discussed Master painters of the past to unlock techniques that these painters utilised. Tutor, Franco Huller, gave live painting demonstrations and the students took part in individual and group exercises.

At the end of the course the group completed and refined a series of paintings, united by common techniques or a topic.
