Accreditation & Documents

Prague City University offers a highly respected British university education in English in the Czech Republic, with Teesside University and Pearson BTEC accreditation and quality assurance processes. We are also proud to offer Czech qualifications accredited by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Accreditation in the UK

The British PCU Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees are accredited by our strategic partner, Teesside University. British higher education has a long-standing international reputation for quality. All publicly-funded UK universities are regularly reviewed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). Teesside is also a scheme partner of QAA and PCU as a strategic partner of Teesside is also certified. QAA is a mark of quality assurance and indicates that a University is committed to delivering quality higher education for transnational education students. The most recent institutional review of PCU's partner, Teesside University, expressed “confidence in ... the University’s current management and likely future management of the quality of its academic programmes and the academic standards of its awards.” This quality assurance ensures the highest standard of programme delivery and fair assessment.

The Foundation Diploma programmes are also British-accredited qualifications. They are awarded by Pearson, the largest organization appointed by the UK Government’s Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency to award a wide range of qualifications. Pearson is responsible for the highly respected Level 3 BTEC Foundation Diploma programmes taught at Prague City University, as well as universities and colleges in the UK and around the world.

Accreditation in the Czech Republic

In 2021 we are delighted to introduce our School of Education, offering a Czech Bachelor’s degree and a professional qualification for teaching English in Czech secondary schools. Both programmes are accredited by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT). The life-long learning professional programme is accredited as part of the Further Education of Teachers framework (DVPP) to provide the minimum qualification for teaching English as a foreign language in the Czech school system.

Recognition in the Czech Republic

Prague College (now Prague City University) was the first university with EU foreign accreditation to be officially registered by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MŠMT) for all Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

As a consequence of Brexit, our UK degree programmes are currently undergoing re-registration with the Czech Ministry of Education. We are moving the programmes from the EU register to the non-EU register. Until this process is completed, in the coming months, some programmes are offered as professional qualifications leading to British qualifications.

A number of our UK degree programmes have been successfully re-registered, and these can be found on the MŠMT register.
