When do I have to submit my abstract by? 
Abstract submission deadline: 30 April 2024
Notification of acceptance: mid-May 2024

Do I have to both register and submit an abstract? 
Yes, it is a two-step process.

What are the registration fees?
Regular — (250 EUR — early bird / 300 EUR — standard fee + VAT)
Streaming fee for morning lectures/keynote speeches (150 EUR + VAT)
MA/Ph.D. students (150 EUR + VAT) — upon sending a motivation letter
Teacher workshop (40 EUR + VAT)
Streaming fee for morning lectures/keynote speeches + Invited Colloquium (190 EUR + VAT)

Can I pay by credit card? 
At the moment no. We apologise for the inconvenience.

The fee is given in euros, but the account is in Czech crowns — is this a problem? 
We have only one account (and foreign EUR payments are converted to CZK); it should be a multi-currency account. Nevertheless, we do not have a special EUR account and it would take several weeks for us to open it. Therefore, if you need an invoice in CZK (or in any other currency), we can help with that.

Will you publish conference proceedings? 
No. However, the best papers/contributions are to be published in a special issue of JELF as echoes of/from the conference. We have tentative approval by the edition in chief Martin Dewey for this special issue. The acceptance of your paper will be decided by the scientific committee after the conference based on its scientific/pedagogical merit.

Will the conference be online?
Colloquia and plenary lectures will be streamed. Special prices apply.

Should I upload both an abstract and the biographical information to the system?
If you are a keynote speaker, please, upload both your bio and your abstract in the registration system. Also, please, send your bio via email to us organizers.

Do you have any funding for doctoral students wishing to present at the conference?
We offer (a very limited) number of places for MA/PhD students for a discounted price (for details, please, view the Registration website). One option to attend ELF14 is to propose a practical workshop for teachers (transferring theoretical ideas about ELF/GEs into teaching practice); teacher trainers/researchers who will run such (a) workshop(s) attend the conference for free on the day when they present themselves. 

Is there any accommodation assistance?
Keynote speakers will be accommodated in Mama Shelter Hotel (11—14/09/2024). If needed, the stay can be extended (please, contact us or the hotel directly). Extra non–conference days are not covered for invited speakers. Participants are encouraged to book their accommodation early. 

Here are some recommendations for accommodation very near and near our venues (Prague City University and Charles University Faculty of Arts). Kindly note there are medium and cheaper options included on the list — feel free to go through them all. Currently, there are many other options available downtown Prague as well and therefore do not hesitate to check Booking & Airbnb for more (they are quite reliable here):

Is the presentation also for novice/early career researchers? ?
Yes. Especially suitable is the PhD section. 

What kind of submission is allowed?
The choice of a presentation / PhD section/poster is up to you or you can leave it up to us. 

Qolloquia

1) The participants of your Colloquium can/should both send the titles/abstracts of their brief contributions to the colloquium to you, and to the main conference platform without registering (two separate links) (just “submit and abstract” — and indicate which colloquium they will be contributing to). It would be good to have a record in our system of their contribution. Also, please, provide specifications of your colloquium to this document. Each colloquium will have its own page within the document.

2) If your colleagues only send a video/presentation but will not participate anything else, then they do not have to pay. If they would like to both participate actively online and/or attend the online plenaries, there is always the option of the online ticket.
