The roles of chairs include:
- Making sure all presentations of both online and face-2-face participants are ready (i.e. uploaded to the computer, saved on a flash disc, etc.).
- Cooperationg with tech support who will be helping you with the online streaming (if applicable in your slot). Making sure all online participants are present on MS Teams and cn hear and see everyone.
- Introducing all speakers (check the correct pronunciation of their names beforehand, their academic titles, affiliations).
- Familiarizing yourself with the abstracts presented in your slot.
- Moderating the talks and strictly monitoring timing (or you can ask someone to check the timing for you). Time indicators will be provided. Please, give the speakers a “heads-up” 5/3/1 minutes before the end. Most talks should be 15 minutes + 5 minutes to either round up/answer questions. Some slots offer space for a general discussion after all speakers present their talks.
- Moderating final discussion. Please, monitor which questions came first, second, etc.
- Asking questions if no one else does. ;)

We will not be able to make too many last-minute changes, the more we know now, the better. Please “Edit” your registration to include the conference gala dinner. If you wish to be accompanied, please, also register your partner/spouse/companion through the form linked.

You can cancel your registration till June 30, 2024 for free. You can cancel your registration till July 15 (50% cancellation policy). After July 15, no registration fee refund. However, If you find another researcher to come in your stead, we will transfer the cost to their name for no extra charge.

Teacher workshops (40 EUR + VAT) (this fee is for participating teachers, not presenters; it includes the option to attend plenary lectures on Friday morning, and workshops delivered by first-class researchers/teacher trainers/ teachers on Friday afternoon, and refreshments all day). Presenters (i.e. invited researchers/teacher trainers/ teachers who deliver one or more face-2-face workshops to secondary teachers can attend ELF14 on the day they deliver their workshop, i.e. Friday 13 September (only) for free.

Yes. Click on Send and add the beneficiary bank (the recipient). The only information required is the full name (Prague City Vysoká Škola s.r.o) and the IBAN. The rest (name of the bank and SWIFT) appeared automatically (I checked them and they matched the info in the proforma invoice). Put in the amount, the transfer should be free of charge. In the reference, include ELF 14, your name, and the number of your payment (the one indicated in “Payment Details” in the proforma invoice) for our finance lady to identify your payment. According to the app, the money will arrive to the recipient by tomorrow.
Yes. Find this PayPal account: jirinadunkova@gmail.com, and send the payment. You will receive an invoice with the information that the money was paid for the conference fee.
We have only one account (and foreign EUR payments are converted to CZK); it should be a multi-currency account. Nevertheless, we do not have a special EUR account and it would take several weeks for us to open it. Therefore, if you need an invoice in CZK (or in any other currency), we can help with that.
No. However, the best papers/contributions are to be published in a special issue of JELF as echoes of/from the conference. We have tentative approval by the editor in chief Martin Dewey for this special issue. The acceptance of your paper will be decided by the scientific committee after the conference based on its scientific/pedagogical merit.

If you are a keynote speaker, please, upload both your bio and your abstract in the registration system. Also, please, send your bio via email to us organizers.
We offer (a very limited) number of places for MA/PhD students for a discounted price (for details, please, view the Registration website). CAPACITY IS NOW FULL. ALL DISCOUNTED TICKETS HAVE BEEN AWARDED.
One option to attend ELF14 is to propose a practical workshop for teachers (transferring theoretical ideas about ELF/GEs into teaching practice); teacher trainers/researchers who will run such (a) workshop(s) attend the conference for free on the day when they present themselves.
Keynote speakers will be accommodated in Mama Shelter Hotel (11—14/09/2024). If needed, the stay can be extended (please, contact us or the hotel directly). Extra non–conference days are not covered for invited speakers. Participants are encouraged to book their accommodation early.
