Transferring University
Transferring credits from previous studies
Are you currently studying for a Bachelor's degree at another university? Or have you already completed one? Then you may be able to transfer credits to your new degree programme at Prague City University. This means you won't have to repeat classes you have already taken, and could potentially complete your degree in less time. You will need to submit your official transcripts and course syllabus for further assessment as part of the application process. Our Admissions Advisors will be happy to provide you with further guidance and details.
I already have a completed qualification. Can I enter into the final year of a degree programme?
If you have already completed a qualification such as a Higher National Diploma (HND), Associate's Degree or Academy Professional (AP), you may be eligible to apply directly to start in the final year of one of our degree programmes. It will depend on the exact qualification you hold, its relevance to the programme you are applying to, the number of credits and/or hours in our equivalent programme, and whether you meet our other entry requirements.
I'm already studying in the Czech Republic and need a visa. Can I transfer to Prague City University?
Prague City University supports visas for international students. If you are already studying in the Czech Republic, and want to change universities, or perhaps want to start a Master’s programme with us after your Bachelor’s degree, we would welcome your application.
Study Abroad and Transferring credits from Prague City University
A number of students wish to include us in their study abroad programme — both for the unrivalled experience and also for academic credit. You can apply to study abroad at Prague City University for one semester or even for a whole academic year. If your major is in business, media, computing, art or design, we may be able to offer classes to help you complete your degree wherever you are studying. If you need to transfer credit back to your home university, we can assist you by providing you with detailed class descriptions, a class syllabus and/or a transcript.
Comparing the UK and European Credit systems
In order to complete a British Bachelor’s degree, students need to accumulate at least 360 UK credits, (i.e. 120 credits a year for a three-year programme). Programmes typically consist of six modules a year, worth 20 credits each.
In the European framework (ECTS), these numbers are halved, so one academic year of study in a British degree programme corresponds to 60 ECTS credits, and a completed UK Bachelor’s degree is worth 180 ECTS credits.
Credits gained on a Bachelor's degree programme at Prague City University may be transferred to other universities according to individual policies.
