George Allen

George Allen, MFA

Dean of the School of Art, Design & Media

In addition to his role as Dean, George’s teaching portfolio cuts through different programmes and degree levels. These include Photoshop for Foundation students, seminar classes for first year Fine Art students, thesis writing and dissertation for final year Fine Art and Graphic Design students, and live projects, competition work, and degree projects, for 2nd and 3rd year Graphic Design students.
 
Outside of teaching George focuses on photographic typologies that explore cultural, historical, and architectural facets of life in Prague. In his professional capacity he is fascinated by the multitude of approaches to studio based higher education curriculum in art and design.
 
George previously taught as an adjunct professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Photography and Design departments and also at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College Photography Department. He also has experience working in both the photography and film industries.
 
George received his Masters of Fine Arts degree in Photography in 2004 from the Graduate School at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also studied European History and Studio Art with a major in photography for his Bachelor degree at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
