Kaciaryna Pikirenia, BA

Associate Lecturer

Kaciaryna is a Belarusian graphic artist and designer, she specialises in typography art, book design, and illustration. At PCU si teaches Visual Communication, Portfolio making, Typography, and Editorial design.

Previously she was Chief Graphic Designer at Lohvinaŭ House of Literature in Minsk, Belarus. Over the years, Kaciarynka has collaborated with the Goethe-Institut, the Polish Book Institute, European Humanities University, and various Belarusian NGOs to design over 60 book titles.
Projects include cover and layout designs for Valzhyna Mort, Jáchym Topol, Jerome K. Jerome, Alhierd Bacharevič, Uzi Weil, Gregor Zander, Uladzimir Arloǔ, Ewa Lipska, Ales Razanaǔ, Serhiy Zhadan, Alvydas Šlepikas, and other novelists and poets.

Awards:
2020 Laureate of Aniempadystaŭ National Award, for the book cover of the British novel "Three Men in a Boat" by Jerome K. Jerome.

Projects:
"Silent Books", a series of 12 notebooks dedicated to Belarusian poets of the 1920s, was published in Belarus in partnership with a festival "(Not)executed poetry".
"Viazmo", an experimental typeface that explores the nature of complex relationships with grandmothers. The results were showcased in a solo exhibition of the same name in Ivan Luckievič Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania.
