Since 2022 Marek Merhaut has been working as Head of the Rector's Office (Chancellor) at the Prague City Vysoká Škola. Prior to this position, he worked as a Head of Scientific Department at the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University. Previously, he worked as a project manager and secretary at the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, Institute of Physiology. Prior to joining the 2LF UK, he worked for 10 years at the University of Hospitality Management in Prague as secretary to the Vice-Rector for Quality and Development. Prior to entering academia, he worked for over 30 years for various international and national hotel companies as General Manager, Operations Manager and Director of Strategic Development.

Research & Practice

From 2010 to the present, He has published as author or co-author: 8 scientific articles published in the WoS database and in the SCOPUS database, more than 90 peer-reviewed domestic and foreign articles. He is also the author or co-author of 8 original scientific articles in conference proceedings published in Czech language and author or co-author of 37 articles in unreviewed, peer-reviewed journals in English and Czech language. He is the author of 4 monographs (published by Wolters Kluwer and Press 21) and co-author of 2 monographs, co-author of 1 textbook for universities and 1 didactic aid for universities, high schools and colleges and author and co-author of 9 electronic scripts for students.
From 2010 to September 2019, he supervised 223 bachelor and diploma theses and opposed more than 100 bachelor and diploma theses and supervised 1 dissertation at the Faculty of Management in J. Hradec with successful graduation as a PhD student in 2019.

His research and publishing activities focus on human resource management, management, intercultural relations and communication, ethics, corporate social responsibility, socio-cultural management issues, gender issues and in recent years on social issues focused on socially disadvantaged groups and their use as potential employees.

His citation index: 35 citations in WoS (h-index1), 51 citations in SCOPUS database (h-index2).
