Roots Are Moving
Raynar Rogers, Manuela Tabarés, Anna Nicole Kolisnyk
Stretching, shifting, remembering, roots do not only reach down into the compact earth, they spread across the map in a diaspora of material impressions. Three artists whose works confront the ground as a conduit for movement and memory weave the stories of their homelands into encrypted and embodied language. The heel strikes the earth as a resistance signal, the code unveils the message of a nation’s unity, the deep wounds of a land speak hard truths of its past.
Roots move into new rhythms. Urgent, furious, celebratory, internal. Rhythms and algorithms intertwine as the connection to place, body and to the digital world collide. Painting becomes a root system of sensation, a way to stabilise, to mark time, to mark territory. Drawing finds new motion in lyrical cadence, tapping tempoed expressions into spatial depictions. Digital projection evolves historic tactile media beyond its origins.
Culture is not confined to soil or nation. It moves through code and choreography, through repetition and residue. The works reveal that roots can walk, that they carry, that they can speak. They ask what remains when we are forced to move, and what grows in the places where we land.
