BA (Hons) Fine Art Experimental Media

PCU's Bachelor‘s programme takes a multidisciplinary approach to the dynamic world of fine art and digital technology. A gradual transition from tutor-led projects to student-centred learning builds a strong set of forward-looking, creative, technical and academic skills, enabling you to gain first-hand knowledge of the developments in current and emerging media and technologies.

These include (but are not limited to) coding, video, sound, editing & production, budget management, exhibition planning and more, allowing you to pursue a range of career opportunities and activities in the arts, technologies, the cultural sphere and beyond.

Full-time

Full-time students can expect to attend daily classes, with 16 hours per week in class, plus additional workshops & guest lectures. Further independent learning and group work is expected.

Dr John Hill

John is an artist, curator and writer, with a BA in drawing from Camberwell College, University of the Arts London. As a founding member of the collective LuckyPDF, he has had work exhibited internationally and been commissioned by major UK institutions, including Hayward Gallery and Frieze Foundation. In 2017 he led the Studio of the Visiting Artist at AVU, the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague and curated their 2019 Diploma show Nejkrásnější věk. In 2020 he was invited to host the Student Forum at Berlin's transmediale festival.

Entry Requirements

  • Confirmation of completed High School Education or previous college education, which could be one of the following: A Czech high school diploma, two A-level passes, a PCU Foundation Diploma (based on Pearson Level 3 diploma units and PCU units). An equivalent education from other countries assessed individually. Students with experience or equivalent education in some subjects of the programme may be granted advance credit towards year one or year two of the programme after competing the required assessment of Prior Learning or Experience documentation.

  •  English language certificate. Required Scores: IELTS 5.5; TOEFL iBT 60+, Other certificates may be accepted.

  • Portfolio and letter of motivation (300 words)

  • For all programmes at Prague City University there is a final interview between the applicant and the Programme Leader before the final decision on admission is made.

Curating Exhibitions & Events

Take a look inside the classroom of the BA (Hons) in Fine Art Experimental Media programme as second year students prepare for a public exhibition.

As part of their studies they undertake a Curating Exhibitions and Events module where they are responsible for putting on a public exhibition. This class teaches valuable event management, budgeting and exhibition curation skills.

In her final semester Lamija Čehajić, BA (Hons) Fine Art Experimental Media won the jury award at Sarajevska zima (Sarajevo Winter), a Bosnian international festival for young artists in the field of fine arts, film and literature.

  • Radek Fiala is a designer for luxury Czech lighting firm, Preciosa. He custom-designs large office and hotel installations in the Czech Republic, Singapore, Hong Kong and India.
  • Clair Le Couteur After graduation Clair successfully applied and completed her Ph.D. at the Royal College of Art in London, where she is now a Visiting Professor.
  • Tadeas Marek is Founder & CEO of Boost.space, a single cloud-based platform that synchronises, manages and automates all forms of data to increase productivity. Used by businesses across 55+ countries, Tadeas’ Prague-based software development company currently employs around 20 people.
  • Sergio Alarcon is working as a Senior Texture Artist at PIXOMONDO, an international visual effects company with a global network of studios in Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Beijing and Shanghai.
  • Alexander Panek began a successful startup company, Virgla LTD, which was a platform that brought together people who had an interest in specific topics and brands. He now works as Lead UX/UI Designer at kytary.cz
  • Niels Doucet enjoys a successful career live electronic music performer and composer. His aesthetic is broad, covering both club and film composition.
