Graphic Events: A Realist Account of Graphic Design
In 2022, James authored and edited a book, Graphic Events: A Realist Account of Graphic Design, along with Nick Deakin, published by Onomatopee.

Graphic Events explores the often awkward and unplanned existence of graphics. Frequently found torn from walls, scattered on streets, and faded in shop windows, the everyday reality of graphics contrasts sharply with their intended designs—a difference often overlooked in critical discussions. Jame’s book highlights that contrast through a montage of original essays and interviews, encouraging graphics to engage in unexpected dialogues.
