Beyond the Classroom

  • The School of Media & IT regularly organise conferences and public seminars, bringing in local and international experts from industry and academia to share their insights and research. These events keep students informed about the latest global trends in IT and media.

  • Creative Media Production graduate screenings are held annually at one of Prague's famous art cinemas, Bio Oko. Students organise, promote and host this public film event to showcase their final projects.

  • Throughout their programme, students participate in specialist workshops that provide in-depth knowledge and focused discussions on topics such as photography, streaming, cloud storage, social networking, smart home technology, mapping and navigation technology.

Maia Horniak

Maia Horniak

Maia is an inspiring lecturer with many years of experience in teaching and designing courses on video production, media, directing, and performance. In addition to her teaching, Maia is an acclaimed director, having directed over ten short films, a television movie, several documentaries, commercials, and music videos. Her short films have had international success, screening at over thirty international film festivals. Maia has also worked on productions in Prague and Los Angeles for a number of renowned studios and companies, including Stillking (Prague) and Universal, Miramax and MTV (USA).

Towards an Ontology for the lotReq UML Profile

In September, Dr Bettaz Programme Leader for Computing gave the keynote address at Amity Institute of Information Technology’s International Conference on Reliability, Infocom Technologies & Optimization (ICRITO).

Dr Bettaz’ keynote address was based on joint work undertaken with Mourad Maouche. The pair investigated software engineering difficulties in producing consistent rigorous specifications that adequately reflect users’ requirements for complex systems.

Rajmond Berisha

Rajmond Berisha

Originally from the Republic of Kosovo, Rajmond chose PCU to deepen his IT knowledge and earn a British-accredited MSc Computing degree. During his time at PCU, Rajmond worked on the Underground City XXI Project, programming and constructing a multi-user platform with the use of game engines. This practice-based project enabled him to test his core specialisations and fully prepared him for professional scenarios. Raymond has continued to thrive professionally and is currently the SRE Lead at Atlas Copco, a Swedish multinational company and a global leader in sustainable productivity solutions.

Petr Roudenský

Petr graduated with distinction from our MSc Computing programme and also won the prestigious Dean’s Award from Teesside University, our academic partner in the UK. Petr's project was deemed outstanding work scoring the highest academic record according to Teesside University's School of Computing. Petr went on to publish three books on computing including ‘Kvalita softwaru: teorie a praxe’ (Quality of software in theory and practice). He is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Sheffield in the UK, where he is conducting research on neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Huntington's Disease.
