Prague College students participate in contemporary art showcase

by Alex Went, on 28 November 2017 00:00:00 CET

6 to 14 October | Prvního pluku 20/2, Praha 8-Karlín

4+4 Days in MotionFrom 6 to 14 October at Kasarna Karlin (Karlin Barracks), Prague College students are participating in the '4+4 Days in Motion' festival of contemporary art.

Entitled 'Our Living Room will Look Bigger in the Mirror... Or: The Precision of Rearrangement', the installation is devised by lecturer Cristina Maldonado, with the participation of students from Prague College’s School of Art and Design, as well as students from DAMU, the theatre faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts.

The video performance's main theme is the principle of denial. You hope that the things you see aren’t actually what you are seeing: phantom-like limbs, bats, or chives – it doesn’t really matter what you see, for it will always be something completely different. And if you think that you are in one place, you are almost certainly somewhere else. It looks like you are in the right place at the wrong time or at the right place but not at the right time or in a kind of out-of-place non-site-specific project.

The video installation can be seen during regular opening hours, but during the evenings, (6pm to 8pm) it is accompanied by live interventions created by students Lamija Čehajić, Isabela Juchniewicz, Arden Tan, Danica Rodis, Elizabet Sukhishvili, Maja Jurse, Sandra Habash, Jie Du, Tornike Mezvrishvili, Vadym Vovk, and Vanesa Vachová.

Entrance is 50 CZK, and all are warmly invited.
