On 7 November, students of the BA (Hons) Communications and Media Studies programme visited RADIO 1, one of the first alternative radios founded after Velvet Revolution. Students talked to the radio editors, Zdeněk Lichnovský and Pierre Urban about the history of radio, programming, and the way that this station has maintained its outstanding status within Czech alternative scene.

Impressions from one of the students of the programme, Liana Sas:

On this visit, Prague College gave me another opportunity to see radio from the inside. At the radio station we were guided by young presenters who showed us the studio where they work and a vast musical library of over 6,000 CDs that looked very impressive!

We were given a great deal of information about working in radio. Since nowadays people have only a general idea of how different media work, we students had questions more about technical issues, as well as wanting to know more about the presenters' personal experience in radio. They were very friendly; several of my colleagues are interested in this field, and after seeing such a good working atmosphere became even more motivated. Many thanks to Masa Hilcisin and Prague College for being so inspiring!
