Katerina Saldova, a spokesperson for Amnesty International, will present Amnesty’s ongoing campaign calling for the release of several prisoners of conscience from different countries with oppressive regimes.
Afterwards, PhDr. Prokop Tomek, a historian from the Military History Institute in Prague, will give a broader overview of the issue of prisoners of conscience, particularly in the historical context of Czechoslovakia. There will also be a screening of a documentary film whose director ended up in prison for making it and for whose release from prison Amnesty International is currently campaigning.
