The workshops were held by two senior lecturers, Peter Gregory and Tim Brunton from the Teesside School of Computing. Peter Gregory's workshop, Path-planning in Games, focused on artificial intelligence in computer games and path-planning for non-player characters. Participants had a chance to study classical path planning algorithms Dijkstra, Floyd-Warshall and A-Star. They learned different techniques for overcoming potential insufficiency of algorithms by different caching techniques.
The Games Animation workshop by Tim Brunton introduced some of the core concepts related to producing animation for computer games. Participants focused on producing animation for a player character and discovered important concepts such as Game Engine Animation, Acting Principles, Characterisation, Power Centres, Hierarchies, Animating a Freeform Walk Cycle and others.
Thanks to everyone who participated.
