The faculty of the School of Business represents many years of combined academic and professional experience. With a particular interest in the field of business ethics and cross-cultural methods and practices, we work collaboratively on an approach that underlines the ‘know-why’ as well as the ‘know-how’ of the business world.
As Associate Dean of the School of Business, Bruce Gahir leads the degree programme in International Finance and Business Accounting and the Foundation Diploma in Business. Bruce also leads the CIMA and ACCA programmes, and acts as an adviser in the field of financial services.
Dr. Kateryna Shymanska, PhD. is an experienced academic with a strong background in Accounting and Auditing, specializing also in International Economic Relations. She holds both a Master's degree and a PhD in Accounting and Auditing, showcasing her dedication to her field.
Prof. Dr. Inna Makarenko, joined the School of Business as a Principal Lecturer in May 2022. She teaches finance-oriented subjects and participates in CRIS (the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary Studies) activities. Inna was appointed an Associate Professor in 2018 and full Professor of Finance in 2022 at Sumy State University, Ukraine.
Larry lectures on business, management, accounting and finance as a distance learning lecturer for the School of Business. He helped develop PCU's blended learning approach of maintaining close contact with students regardless of location. He has lectured for PCU from both Singapore and Texas.
Vidhu is an Associate Lecturer and has been teaching at PCU since 2014. She specializes in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management and is a Sociologist, Senior Lecturer and corporate trainer.
Dean of the School of Business
Dr. Stefano Cavagnetto is Dean of the School of Business and Programme Leader for postgraduate studies. He is co-founder and director of CRIS (the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary Studies) at PCU, and responsible for the research unit of the School of Business.
He holds a Master's degree in Scientific Communication from COREP (Consortium for Permanent Research and Education) in Turin and earned his Doctoral degree in Philosophy at the Amedeo Avogadro University in Italy. After undertaking a visiting scholar role at Columbia University in NYC, Dr Cavagnetto moved to Prague to specialize in Mathematical Logic at the Institute of Mathematics at the Academy of Sciences, Czech Republic. During this time, he earned his PhD in Mathematical Logic from Charles University.
Additionally, he has been a visiting scholar and fellow at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge (UK) and has been published in the fields of logic, theoretical philosophy, ethics, and strategy. Dr. Cavagnetto teaches at the post graduate level research methods, strategy, governance and ethics, and he is also teaching in the doctoral programme in the International Business School in Teesside.
Dr. Cavagnetto has also written two university textbooks for undergraduate and postgraduate students on natural deduction and the formalisation of natural languages and mathematical logic, respectively.

After graduating from University of London, Bruce first worked in the international banking environment before diverting to the study of philosophy and teaching at Prague College. He is currently Associate Dean of the School of Business, as well as a Principal Lecturer, teaching Financial Accounting, Business Ethics with Corporate Governance and Business Strategy.
Bruce’s research interests are in the areas of virtue ethics, finance, and business strategy. Currently his research focuses on business ethics with a special interest in decision-making models using the framework of virtue ethics. Other areas of interest are to do with Portfolio Theory, CAPM, algorithmic trading, behavioural finance, and efficiency of financial markets.
Bruce has been with the University since 2007 and actively collaborates in CRIS (the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary Studies), with the strategic development of which he is currently assisting Dr. Cavagnetto.
Bruce holds MSc in Applied Mathematics from the University of London, Queen Mary College, MPhil in Philosophy (Business Ethics), and BA (Hons) in Philosophy from the University of London, Birkbeck College as well as BSc (Hons) in Mathematics/Physics from the University of London, Bedford College. He has also completed the Fintech Programme at the University of Oxford's Said Business School and is currently completing a DBA with Teesside University.

Associate Dean of School of Business
Dave is currently involved in two areas of research, firstly in developing materials to assist student research; secondly, developing student materials for the areas in which he lectures. He is a frequent contributor to the Bulletin of the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary Studies.
He has been closely involved in education development since graduating from Sheffield Hallam University in 1995: teacher training in China, vocational and language training in the Czech Republic and Portugal. At the same time he brings his experience and passion for running and managing businesses to the classes which he teaches at all levels of the college, from first year undergraduates to the post-graduate programme.
Dave holds an MA in Imperialism and Culture from Sheffield Hallam University and is currently completing a Doctorate in Business Administration with Teesside University.

Associate Lecturer
Thomas initially worked in the Environmental Impact Assessment field, undertaking work for the Ministry of Agriculture in the UK for the economic audit of farm subsidies.
Thomas has four different degree level qualifications, including a BSc (Hons) in Rural Planning from Anglia Ruskin University , an MSc in Environmental Impact Assessment from Aberystwyth University and a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) from the University of Greenwich. He also holds the ARLA qualification in Residential Management and his family owns a firm in this field in the UK. He has recently been awarded an MPhil from the University of Buckingham in Finance
Thomas is also a member of the Royal Society of Literature in London, he has recently become a father and is currently working on his third book of poetry.

Principal Lecturer
Natasa is a co-founder of Prague College (now Prague City University) and participated in setting up both the administrative and academic systems of the university, while lecturing in the School of Business and the School of Media and IT. She also participates in the development of the publishing platform for the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary Studies (CRIS) which supports the research activities of the college.
Natasa started her career as a journalist for Croatian print media, radio and television in the 1990s. She moved to Iceland in 1998, where she worked as a freelance writer for various Croatian media as well as Icelandic National Radio. She settled in Prague in 2002.
Natasa holds a Master’s in Politics and Economics from Charles University in Prague, a Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science from City, University of London, and a BA in Political Science from the University of Iceland.

Joel has been a lecturer at in the School of Business since 2011, and has also worked in sales, public relations and advertising both in the USA and in the Czech Republic.
Joel is a founding partner of Language & Skills, a network of teachers focused on delivering high-end hard/soft skills seminars. These experiences have provided him with valuable insights into the art of poignant communication using a variety of creative methods - assets he now brings to bear as a lecturer.
He specializes in teaching Marketing, Advertising, Business Environment, Research Projects, and Personal Skills and Cultural Development courses. He is also in charge of managing many student activities such as the Football, Basketball, and Film clubs. In addition he organizes university pub quiz events which bring together hundreds of students from universities across Prague in friendly trivia competitions throughout the year.
Joel holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from the University of North Texas and an MSc in International Management from Prague College/Teesside University. He has also studied abroad in both Guatemala and England.
Joel is a certified Czech/English translator, a cautious rock climber, and a dismally land-locked SCUBA diver.

Associate Lecturer
Rafael Echavarria is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Business. He has experience in the areas of advertising, marketing and international business and has worked at Ernst & Young as a senior interactive designer and creator for the marketing department.
Rafael holds a Master's degree from the Rome School of Business, a BA in Advertising from the Instituto de Artes, Medellín, Colombia, a BA in Marketing from the Esumer University and a BA (Hons) International Management programme from Teesside University.

Larry Koch teaches a range of business, management, accounting and finance classes as a distance learning lecturer for the School of Business. Larry pioneered our current approach of maintaining close contact with students on the blended learning programmes, while still running projects and giving in-depth personal feedback. Larry has taught blended learning for PCU from both Singapore and Texas. He also visits us every year to teach on our Summer School. In addition, he has been a faculty member at Dallas Baptist University, Navarro College, North Harris County College and College of the Mainland. He combines experience as an educator with broad-based work in public accounting and controllership.
As an audit partner in a public accounting firm, Larry has worked in both financial and tax matters including audits, reviews and compilations of financial statements as well as individual, partnership, corporate, estate and not-for-profit tax preparation and planning. Larry has participated in consulting engagements with the international client groups of Mitsubishi Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Nippon Filcon.
He graduated in the United States with BBA and MBA degrees in accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His MBA education included additional work with a fellowship grant from the US Department of Education including a specialization in community college teaching and administration. Larry received an award for his accounting thesis from the Houston Chapter of the National Association of Accountants.

Associate Lecturer
Having taught in a wide variety of educational environments - including a non-profit community-based literacy council, writing centres, private and public ESL schools, and universities - Leah continues to instruct and guide international students at PCU.
Leah is originally from the United States where she graduated magna cum laude from Ripon College, Wisconsin, double-majoring in History and English literature. Leah lectures in the School of Media & IT and the School of Business.
As an undergraduate, she was awarded a number of academic honours, including the Pro-College Research Grant for history (2002) and the Pierre Guiet Prize in English (2003). Leah earned her ESL Teaching Certificate and Master of Arts degree in Applied English Linguistics (magna cum laude) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which was an ideal environment for exploring and researching language acquisition and international education in both the theoretical and applicable spheres.
From an early age Leah has been interested in cross-cultural communication, and Prague City University is the perfect place for Leah to combine her passion of English instruction and cross-cultural learning. She first visited the Czech Republic in 1994 and (as an American Field Service Student) in 1995. Her areas of academic interest are: second language acquisition, social organisations and the study of language, variations in world Englishes, discourse analysis with an emphasis on classroom discourse and the intersection of language, ethnicity, and education.

Associate Lecturer
Lucie lectures in international HR, PR and organisational behaviour. She graduated in the field of International and European Economic Studies and has a Master’s degree in Professional Communication from La Salle University in Philadelphia and is currently completing a DBA at Teesside University.
Lucie worked at PCU in the Marketing department when it first opened its doors to students in 2003 and returned in 2012 to lecture in the School of Business.
She teaches classes of all academic levels in the areas of organisational behaviour, sales, international management and communication.
In 2006, she moved to Miami, Florida, where she continued her career in the education sector working for various public and private universities. As well as lecturing, she held posts as Associate Dean of General Education at Keiser University, and Program Coordinator and International Student Advisor at both Florida International University (FIU) and Kaplan International College. Her main teaching areas are human resource management, communication and public relations.

Principal Lecturer
Dr Željko Ivanković is Principal Lecturer in Finance in School of Business. With a PhD in political philosophy from the Australian National University, his research interests have evolved from the theory of property, institutional economics and political economy to the history of finance and digital money.
Dr Ivanković has published books and papers on the transformation of property rights, inequality, and crony capitalism.
Current research includes the legal history of money, as well as cryptocurrencies not only as a laboratory for the creation of money but also for the development of formal and informal financial institutions.

Marek teaches in the School of Business at PCU, where he concentrates on issues in Business Ethics.
He is an alumnus of Prague College (now PCU), having received both his BA in International Business Management and MSc (with merit) in International Management while studying here.
He subsequently took his MA (with distinction) in Philosophy at Birkbeck, University of London, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Philosophy at Charles University with a focus on the philosophy of mind and ethics.
Marek also lectures on Business Project Management, Project Planning with IT, the Global Business Environment, and Issues in the Contemporary Business Environment.
Marek co-founded and still runs a well-respected skateboarding magazine. 'To my surprise (even after knee surgery), still an active skateboarder and in marketing cooperation with several companies.'
Associate Lecturer
General Šándor is an Associate Lecturer at the School of Business and teaches in the MSc Leadership and Strategic Management programme and is an authority in the areas of security and crises management.
General Šándor is the a former head of the Czech Military Intelligence Service and a recognized expert on security issues, terrorist threats and crisis management. Since 2003 he has worked as a private security consultant and analyst.
Many of his clients include major industries and companies in the Czech Republic, including the Prague Airport, Prague Metro, Czech railways, ČEZ, The State Department of Transportation, and the General University Hospital in Prague.

Petr is an Associate Lecturer in the Masters programmes with lifelong experience in business, banking and finance. He brings a wealth of real-world experience and knowledge to students in the MSc Leadership and Strategic Management programme.
Petr has a Master's in Civil Engineering from the Czech technical University, Prague.
Petr started his career as a civil engineer, working on such projects as the Temelín power plant. He has gone on to have a career that spans senior and management roles in banking, consulting and business development. He is an expert in the area of cashless payments and is currently the Sales Director for CEE and Customer Service Manager for Italy at Aevi CZ.
He has worked for Československá obchodní banka, and IPB REAL as a member of the Board of Directors. At BANIT, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board and at Wincor Nixdorf Director of International Business Development and Cashless Payments.

Jan studied at the University of Economics and Business (VŠE) in Prague where graduated with a PhD in Accounting and corporate financial management. His main fields of interest are accounting and taxation of individuals and corporate accounting.
Jan has been teaching accounting since 2013 - initially within his Ph.D. studies, after graduation as an external lecturer.
During his early university studies in 2008, Jan established his own business. Since then, he has been running a dance studio in Prague - currently employing around 30 people at two different locations. He manages the businesses accounting, taxation, contracting, web design and marketing.

Associate Lecturer
Paul Russell is one of the most experienced and highly regarded CIMA and ACCA lecturers in Europe. With a wealth of experience in teaching and coaching students on a one-to-one and group basis, Paul’s brings a unique, fresh and innovative approach to PCU's team. With a finance background spanning over 25 years, Paul has worked extensively in public practice and in senior finance roles within the travel and film sectors.
Paul specialises in delivering courses to small groups and one-to-one, and combines a real passion for teaching with a reputation for helping students reach their potential. Paul’s approach tends to focus on relating content to real life in a practical way and helping students to develop their study and exam technique skills. Paul has a reputation for achieving very high pass rates and a history of producing CIMA and ACCA prizewinners at all levels.
Paul is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT), a fellow member of the Institute of Financial Accountants (FFA), a fellow member of the Federation of Tax Advisers (FFTA) and has a BA in Accountancy & Finance from Birmingham City University.

Vladimir Dzenopoljac is an Associate Professor at the School of Business and Lead Researcher in Leadership and Strategic Management within the Centre for Research and Interdisciplinary Studies at PCU.
He is also Associate Professor of Strategic Management at College and Business Economics at United Arab Emirates University, UAE. From 2016 to 2021, Vladimir taught Strategic Management at the College of Business Administration at the American University of the Middle East, Kuwait. Additionally, he was the Director of MBA program and Business Consulting Center Coordinator at the same university.
From 2003 until 2016, Vladimir was engaged as Assistant Professor at Faculty of Economics, University of Kragujevac, Serbia, where he received his PhD, in the field of impact of intellectual capital on value creation in contemporary enterprises.
Alongside his academic career, he has provided consultancy services in the fields of strategy development and execution, business planning, financial planning and analysis. He has published a significant number of research papers in his field of expertise and has been involved in implementation of several projects for small, medium, and large companies. His areas of professional interest are strategic management, intellectual capital, leadership, and knowledge management.

Vidhu Maggu is an Associate Lecturer at the School of Business and has been teaching at PCU since 2014. She specializes in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management and is a Sociologist, Senior Lecturer and corporate trainer.
Vidhu has also been organizing and conducting training workshops for various multinationals and SMEs, covering intercultural and soft skills. She holds a PhD in Sociology and an MBA in General Management.
