Master’s in Fine Art graduate Saša Spačal will present her final project MycoMythologies at Prague City Gallery’s (GHMP) exhibition space in the beautiful Troja Chateau in Prague 7.
MycoMythologies was selected for Prague City Gallery’s (GHMP) exhibition programme Biotroja and in partnership with PCU the gallery invites students, staff and the wider community to Saša’s official exhibition opening taking place on Friday 16 July at 5pm.
Additionally, Saša's project was nominated for the prestigious STARTS Prize - Grand prize of the European Commission which honours collaborative work between artists, scientists, engineers and researchers who develop creative, inclusive, and sustainable technologies.
MycoMythologies is a series of immersive biotechnological installations that investigates how fungal ontologies could help humans think, learn and practice multi-species survival through observing the connectivity and inclusive communal ways that fungi networks operate.
Her artistic research speculated on how fungal underground networks can inform us, yet technologies tend to define the education that we receive. You can hear more about MycoMythologies from the artist herself, in the following video.
After completing her Master’s in Fine Art at PCU, Saša will return to Slovenia and continue to research the use of living systems in contemporary and sound art. As a well-seasoned professional, Saša has exhibited and performed at many festivals and exhibitions across Europe, China and Russia such as the Ars Electronica Festival, Prix Cube Exhibition, Transmediale Festival and the Lisboa Soa Festival. Furthermore, she has received awards and nominations such as the Japan Media Art Award, Prix Cube, Ars Electronica, New Technology Art Award, New Aesthetica Prize.
We wish Saša all the very best in her career and we look forward to seeing you there for the opening night of the MycoMythologies exhibition!
