School of Art and Design students, alumni and artists are holding an exhibition on gender entitled Under Construction at NGO DEI in Letna. Curated by MA Fine Art graduate Monica Mills, Under Construction builds upon the foundational nuances of gender and sexuality.
Under Construction
The exhibition will feature public performances, sculptures, deconstructed paintings and photographs that explore the ever-expanding spectrums of gender and sexuality and reconsider the social constructs that have hindered the LGBTQIA+community for centuries. Artists will demonstrate their personal understanding of what gender means to them and how it is perceived by others.
Gender identity, expression, sexual and romantic attraction, and biological sex are interlinked, interchangeable and intuitive. It’s more than a need for respect, it’s a trust in our humanity to be who we have always been, without having to hide behind toxic conventions that do more harm than good.
Featured Artists will be - Monica (she/her) Rebeka (she/her) Kjersti (she/her) Maru (they/them) Minnie (they/them) Sophie (she/her) Sophia (she/her) Cata (she/her) Genevieve (she/her) Niklas (he/him) and Valentina (she/her).
The exhibition opening will take place on May 20 at 18.00 and will feature a documentary screening, acoustic performances and drag acts.

There is an entry fee of 200czk for students and 250 czk for the general public.
