On 28 September, students from the BA (Hons) Communications & Media Studies programme paid a visit to the newsroom of the Czech political weekly 'Echo'.
The magazine was founded by Dalibor Balsinek, a former board member of the MAFRA media group. Supported by fellow journalists, analysts and commentators, Balsinek set up the new independent publication in protest at the takeover of MAFRA by the Slovak-born entrrpreneur and politician Andrej Babis.
The students visited 'Echo' magazine with their lecturer Zuzana Kaiserova as a part of the 'Convergent Journalism' class, and took the opportunity to discuss the struggles of the contemporary publishing business
with Balsinek, in his role as Editor-in-Chief.
