Master Speaker Series: Sustainable Clothing - Unsustainable Fashion Industry

by Matthew Butler, on 21 November 2018 00:00:00 CET

Master Speaker Series: 6:00pm | Wednesday 28 November | Blanicka 001

On 28 November, Prague College students and the public will have the chance to listen to Markéta Soukupová on the subject sustainability in the fashion industry.

Prague College is pleased to invite all students and the public to a special lecture on sustainable fashion in the era of an unsustainable fashion industry.

Did you know that we produce around 100 billion new articles of clothing every year, and approximately 60% of that ends up in the landfill that same year?

This lecture is for anyone who has ever wondered how it is possible that a shirt is cheaper than a coffee. Or is surprised by the constantly growing number of clothing shops in large shopping malls.  Or would simply like to buy clothing in a more responsible way towards the planet and other humans.

Markéta Soukupová is the coordinator of the Prague branch of Moment charity shops, a network of secondhand shops that sells what other people donate, and in turn they invest the profit in various non-profit organisations. She studied International Business at the University of Economics and worked as a data analyst in the corporate sector before developing her own secondhand e-shop app.
