In early September, Programme Leader for BA (Hons) Creative Media Production, Masa Hilcisin, held her first solo exhibition in the wild surrounds of Kotalska Community Centre and Garden in Liben.
Her exhibition titled ‘Re-framing… Personal’, featured a selection of experimental documentary videos placed in site-specific locations and was curated by Prague College Associate Lecturer Nicole J. Adelman.
Each video was placed unexpectedly in the garden environment with the intention of bringing art and reflective dialogue closer to communities, in a non-conventional space.
The videos showcased the light and power of personal visual storytelling, exposing the complexities and vulnerability of relationships and the life changing moments that we experience such as marriage, birth, death, trauma, suppression and violence.
Life with all it’s pain, poems, walks, joys, sorrows, passions, losses, deepness and courage was visually represented by overlapping and fractured frames interlaced with actual footage.
The audience was encouraged to become a part of the physical exhibition by questioning and articulating the subtle and profound effects that complex life fragments and experiences have on us.
