Every year the Living Futures initiative at Prague City University designs an annual theme which brings to light the challenges we face and explores them via the interconnection of business, design, media, art, education and computing.
Our Schools, students and staff work to embed this theme into projects, lectures, workshops, conferences and exhibitions, in order to illustrate, adapt current practice and inspire future action.
Media, Post-Truth & Reality
2021/2022, framed in the theme of #BeTheChange, was heavily influenced by the pandemic and war. Looking towards 2022/2023, students, lecturers and staff members brought their minds together with the goal of designing a theme that reflects the current stage of society and challenges we are facing. We are happy to announce the discussion resulted in the following annual theme: Media, Post-Truth and Reality.
Post-truth is defined as a time when "objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief", as defined by the Oxford University Press. With the media shaping our perception of reality, many different realities arise in people's minds, and sometimes they clash.
Living in a post-truth era where misinformation and fake news abound, how do we find the right information to base our decisions on? This is the exploration that the whole PCU community is invited to explore over the next academic year. May it bring inspiration for discussions, projects, lectures and more!
