Participatory Art Project: how to create happiness with art 🙂

by Larissa Petryca, on 27 December 2022 11:15:06 CET

In November, Creative Media Production students partnered with World Community Connect to create a participatory art project that would involve students and members of the public in the creative process.

Jan Brzobohaty, Polina Petryshyna, and Oleksandra Khabuzova developed a simple and visually-appealing art project on the university grounds. This project was part of a Socially Engaged Practice module from BA (Hons) Creative Media Production.

The students set up at PCU’s reception and encouraged staff, students and visitors to creatively express happiness through thoughts, words and illustrations with the goal of making another person happy. The participants used colour, stickers and other creative tools to reflect on the happiness theme.

The result was a wall full of colourful, bright and supportive sentiment resulting in happy participants and viewers of the exhibition including visitors to the campus over the following days. This was first participatory art project undertaken by the Creative Media Production programme with similar projects planned in the future.
