Under the umbrella of Learning Plus, PCU announces the first in a series of elective courses with the launch of Prague City Architecture. This introductory programme will help unmask the architectural treasures and historical stories of Prague.
About the Course
Starting Friday November 5, this free weekly course is open to PCU students, alumni and lecturers. Attendance can be in-person or via the Digital Campus.
Participants will learn not only about architecture but also the interesting and complex history of Prague from the 10th to 20th Century. Students will hear fascinating stories, examine the decorative and applied art features and learn about the businesses behind the facades.
There will be 10 classes that are 60 to 90 minutes in length. Classes will take place every Friday at 2pm in November through to mid-December. The class will resume in January after the Christmas break.
At the end of the course students will undertake research and write a four page essay on a topic of their choice. On completion participants will receive a certificate.

The course is created and will be presented by Alex Went. Alex is the author of Prague Vitruvius, a website dedicated to Prague’s architecture and is a well-known authority on Prague’s hidden architectural treasures and the stories behind them.
