Since ancient times, Prague has been home to inventors and scientists who have searched for ways to animate the things they make. From the marionettes and puppets of the Old Town Square to the famous mud-man, the Golem, who guarded the Jewish town, to the animators from Barrandov studios who kept the remains of the communist leaders in their mausoleum looking so fresh. And of course it was a Czech writer, Karel Čapek, who with his brother came up with the word 'robot' to describe the semi-autonomous creatures of his play R.U.R.

So it's appropriate that Prague is at last hosting a Maker Faire, the global science and technology showcase that began in 2008 in California. For the Prague event, the main sponsor of the event is Prusa Research, the Czech 3D printing company whose Prusa i3 design is the most used 3D printer in the world.

We're delighted to announce that five students from Prague College School of Art and Design will be participating at the event, which will be held on 23 and 24 June 2018 at the city's Vystaviste exhibition ground.

Tommy Jay, David Cerny and William Holm, Laura Kuklova and Ivana Spackova will be showing their work, and we would love you to come and support them!

Tickets, at 150 Kc for one day or 250 Kc for two days, are available from this link
