Media student has the energy to win

by Alex Went, on 23 September 2014 11:58:53 CEST

Charlotte Vackova, currently studying for her BA (Hons) in Fine Art Experimental Media, has won a film competition sponsored by the Czech Republic's largest energy supplier

charlotte-vackova-1.jpgPrague College student Charlotte Vackova has scooped first prize in the 'Cena Energie' competition sponsored by leading Czech energy company CEZ. The contest, which took place in August as part of this year's 48-Hour Film Festival, attracted fifteen young film-makers. Entrants were required to produce a short video of no more than 30 seconds in length with the tagline 'Our combined energy can achieve great things'. A Facebook vote later identified her film as the clear winner.

Charlotte, who wants to have a professional career in audiovisual work in future, found out about the competition when she worked as an intern for last year's 48-hour Film Project. Her team included herself, actors Adam Dvorak and Max Spanvirt, and sound designer Michal Worek. The prize, a professional GoPro camera, was awarded on Saturday 13 September at Kino Aero, when her team's entry to the 48-hour Film Festival, 'Marshmallow', was also screened along with those of all the other competitors.

Charlotte has an HND in Interactive Media and is now completing her studies at Prague College with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Experimental Media.  She has made a number of short films in the past - some of which can be seen in her impressive portfolio of work at http://www.charlottevackova.com - and is working on a new short movie which she hopes to enter into international competitions.

She told us she was 'very very happy' with the win. She feels that the CEZ project came along at just the right time in her development as a film-maker, and that it has already made her hungry for the next chance.
