Veronika Douchova

Mgr. Veronika Douchova, Ph.D. is the Dean of the School of Media & IT. Her main interest is cognitive science and mathematics, as well as life-long learning and self-development for adult learners. She teaches a range of modules that focus on mathematics and database design for technically-oriented classes, and professional and personal development for soft-skill-oriented classes.

Dr Douchova has been at PCU since 2008, starting as an Associate Lecturer. In 2009, she became a Principal Lecturer, in 2011 she was the recipient of the Prague City University “Excellence in Teaching” award and in 2012 she became the Programme Leader for BSc (Hons) Computing.

Veronika studied Mathematics and Geometry at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, and Logic at the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy, both at Charles University. After gaining her MSc. in Mathematics, she continued in graduate studies in Applied Mathematics, finishing her Ph.D. in cognitive science at the department of logic under the supervision of Prof. Jaroslav Nesetril. She is proud to have an Erdos number of 2.

Veronika has more than twenty years of teaching experience. She previously taught at the Czech Technical University (Applied Mathematics and Geometry for Engineers and Architects), in the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics (Discrete Mathematics for IT) and in the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy (Logic). She is an enthusiastic teacher who believes in inner motivation.
