Study Exchanges

As a university with a global community, PCU students value the opportunity to broaden their experiences through a study exchange abroad. Typically for one semester, exchanges enrich learning and challenge students to adapt to new surroundings, whilst immersing themselves in a different culture.

PCU is also a natural destination for students who wish to study abroad and have a truly international experience, whilst studying in English. We welcome students every year from a number of our partner institutions

In addition, PCU participates in the Erasmus programme, with the goal of sending up to 5% of students to a participating Erasmus university for part of their studies. At the present time, students or teachers on the Czech Bachelor’s programme are eligible.

Destinations: Europe

France

PCU Computing students can enjoy a period abroad in Paris, with our long-standing partner, ESME Sudria. Opportunities include a Summer School in Robotics and from 2022, the possibility to complete a semester abroad.

Germany

Students from Designschule München have come to PCU to complete their studies in Graphic Design for many years. In turn, PCU students can enjoy weekend conference visits and collaborative projects in Munich as part of their studies.

Spain

From September 2022, School of Business students will be able to apply to take a semester abroad in Spain in a specialist Business School. More details to be announced soon.

United Kingdom

Like PCU, our strategic partner, Teesside University, welcomes international students regularly and they are delighted to host PCU students as part of study exchange programmes. Students have the opportunity to experience university life from a different perspective in a larger institution in the North of England. Teesside University is located close to some of the UK’s major cities as well as being surrounded by the beautiful British countryside for you to explore. Shorter study weeks and summer schools are organised by both universities for students from the UK to come to Prague and the other way around.

Destinations: International

Japan

Our cooperation with International Pacific University and the Sochi group of higher education business and art colleges dates back many years. Our renewed plans for the future include more bilateral short-term study visits and the possibility for semester abroad opportunities and internships.

Of special note are plans to develop teaching practice opportunities for our education students across the high schools and colleges of the Sochi Group where students can put their skills into practice, trial their teaching techniques, deepen understanding of different pedagogical styles, and their own knowledge of how to adapt to teach in various settings. Support is available from IPU International Team regarding Japanese language and culture, to ensure students settle in quickly and can maximise their experience.

New Zealand

The sister university of IPU Japan is IPU New Zealand. Our connection with this university dates back to 2008 and their founder is a member of our Global Strategic Advisory Board. Our latest cooperation agreement is looking at ways to build study links and exchanges at the student and faculty level between Prague and Palmerston which we plan to introduce in 2022/23.

USA

University students from across North America join us every semester through our long-term study abroad partner, IFSA-Butler. PCU is now about to open opportunities for our students to also take a semester abroad in the USA. More details to come soon.
