Our lecturer Krystof Kriz travels extensively in India and documents the many faces of the country. A photo essay about a glass factory in the small town of Firozabad was recently published in the Czech-language Tyden Magazine
Its 40 degrees on the street in shade but inside the factory is hell. Sun strikes the tin roof of the factory without mercy as multiple fires burn in several glass furnaces with the baking hot red yellow substance. Welcome to Firozabad, the city of glass.
A man in the bulb factory shovels a massive pile of shards. His feet are sunk into damaged glass, he wears only slippers but somehow he manages not to cut himself.
