A Taste of Turkey at Prague's Christmas Markets

by Baris Hayirseven, on Jan 22, 2019 12:29:55 PM

Emre Yakar is a Turkish guy, who has been living in Prague for eight years. He is originally from the capital of Turkey, Ankara, and finished his studies there. After his bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, he decided to go to Prague for his master’s study. He says Prague is a lovely city in the heart of Europe and it’s full of opportunities.

"At the markets, everyone is selling the same products. That’s why
I went to Turkey, I looked around
and I found unique products."
                                                Emre Yakar

Instead of finishing his master’s degree, Emre wanted to do something else, something he likes. So, besides his job as a waiter at Hard Rock Café where he has been working for five years, Emre has also been selling Turkish handmade ceramics for over four years.

For him, it is kind of a temporary extra job for now, as he only opens his markets at specific times of the year (Christmas, Easter, etc.), because he doesn’t have a physical shop.

During his interview at the Christmas market, he tells us about what kind of ceramics he is selling, and explains a little bit about his products’ history.

He also tells us about how he decided to start this business, where he got the idea from and how the procedure is when it comes to opening a business in the Czech Republic.
