BOTAS 66 — 'Follow the Yellow'

by Alex Went, on 12 November 2015 10:07:26 CET

How two young graphic designers turned their school project into a serious and highly successful business

As part of Prague College's popular Visiting Artist and Lecture Series (VALS), we are delighted to be joined by the designers and initiators of the BOTAS 66 brand — Jan Kloss and Jakub Korouš — at their store in Prague's Old Town. In what is sure to be a fascinating presentation, they will be telling us more about the genesis of the brand, as well as the development of their current collection.

In 2008 Kloss and Korouš were students of graphic design at the Prague Academy of Arts and Design (AAD). For their project they took a piece of classic Czechoslovak design, Marcel Scheinpflug's Botas Classic running shoe, and presented it in a completely new visual style and packaging. They won first place with the project in the European Design (ED) Awards, and shortly afterwards entered into cooperation with Botas. In 2009 they introduced their first collection, presented under its own name BOTAS 66.

Since then the company has gone from strength to strength, with BOTAS 66 products chosen to represent the Czech Republic at many international exhibitions including Milan Design Week, 100% Design in London and Brussels Design September.

How to get there: The nearest metro, tram and bus stop to Bishop's Court is Florenc. Turn back and walk along Na Poříčí, take the first right into Biskupská, and Biskupsky dvur is on your right
